The word 체휼 [chaehyul] is often translated as ‘experience,’ which has the connotation of knowing through embodiment. It means both, embodied experience and understanding at the same time.

恤 (휼) [hyul] – salvation
The first character 體 means ‘body’ and the second, 恤 – ‘salvation.’ Character ‘salvation’ (恤) consists of two parts, 心 – ‘mind’ and 血 – ‘blood.’ Understanding means bodily experience, and it is the salvation of the body. Salvation consists of blood and mind.
